The Truth about the Nature of God - Did God Created Evil?

If God did not create evil than God is not sovereign nor is he the Supreme Being or the creator of the universe. He is not the great I am that I am since evil can exist by itself. In order for us to understand the nature of God, we have to make a few declarations. These are the things which are of God, however, they are not all of God just some of him:

God is supreme and sovereign, God answers to no other being. God is almighty and not subjected to human reasoning. He said my ways are not your ways; my ways are higher than your ways. God is before everything else, meaning God was present before any other thing. He is the alpha and the omega. God is the creator of everything on earth, in heaven and under the earth. God is a god of holiness, justice, and righteousness.
If we do not put these statements out, then the subsequent explanation will become twisted yet again because people have the wrong concept of good and evil, perfect and sovereign. Trying to explain the nature of God with a build-in bias will naturally cause some confusion and misunderstanding. A mad man does not know he is mad, for he has lost the ability to reason. Similarly, a bias in our reasoning can make us blind to the truth.

Using a singular verse like Isaiah 45:7 is not sufficient to explain that God created evil, since there are many word teachers who are experts at changing the meaning in Hebrew, Greek, and who knows what language. They all made us think that the English version bible is not good enough to learn of God. This is simply not true at all, they forgot that we have the Holy Spirit to show us the truth since the Holy Spirit is a Spirit of Truth.

Isaiah 45:7 (King James Version)

7I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

I quote from another writer, L.Ray Smith, and he said, “Satan does play a role in the salvation of the human race. Satan is just one more “evil” that God uses in bringing many sons into glory. The very reason that the above heading might turn some heads is not because it isn’t true or completely Scriptural, but rather because the world has been deceived about most of these spiritual things. God “created evil” (Isaiah 45:7). God does not create things that do not serve a good purpose. By the way, the word translated into “evil” in Isaiah 45:7 is the Hebrew word ra, and it is the very same word translated hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of times as “evil” throughout the Old Testament.”

I present another verse in the bible (Colossians 1:16) which says that God created everything, things visible and invisible. God made everything, and nothing was made without him making them. God made everything that can be seen with the ***** eye and everything which can not be seen with the ***** eye as well.

Now what are the things which are classified as invisible?

They are lust, jealousy, anger, wrath, fear, vengeance, greed, hatred, evil, idolatry, rebellion, stubbornness, arrogance, pride, and others. These are things which can not be seen. And these are all created by God who made all things. Invisible things mean things which are intangible and can not be visibly seen yet real. Electricity is invisible, it can not be seen with the eye, yet it is real. Wind is invisible to the eye yet it is real, we see its effect. Similarly, evil is intangible, yet we see its effect. Evil is not the absence of good. If I put good in a room and sealed it in a vacuum, and then later I took good out of the vacuum, you mean evil will manifest itself in the vacuum. I don’t think so. Evil is the absence of good is not a very correct statement though it seems reasonable, it is not. We must not play with words and go into a tangent thereby tricking ourselves to the warped logic of a bias mind trying to find some form of strange logic to explain the answer which we want.

Again in the book of John, it is stated that God made everything and nothing could have existed without God making them,

When the bible says all things, it means all things, I am sure no Hebrew or Greek or any other language can explain that away. This is truly a statement that has no ambiguity, and thank God that it is so. Then what is the meaning of thing, thing means thing, anything not just physical things but also invisible things. Since Colossians 1:16 defines things as invisible and visible. Evil is invisible to the eye except we can observe its manifested actions and consequences, because evil creates pain, sadness and grieve for the ones who encounter it.

What is Evil then?

Evil is the law that accuses the brethren of sin. Evil is the law prosecutor that puts the person who has sin under the ******* of punishment. Anyone who lives by Galatians 5:22-23 has no punishment since against such things there is no law. Evil is of the devil, it’s the characteristics of the devil. In Galatians 5:23, the verse “no law” means no evil can persecute such a man who walks in love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, humility and self control. Evil represents the justice of Law because it accuses the sinner of the crime he committed. Satan or the devil is the accuser of the brethren because Satan is well verse in scripture. In the desert trial of Jesus, Satan uses scripture to test Jesus and to try to get him to sin against God.

Galatians 5:22-23 (King James Version)

22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,  23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Anything that works under a law system will expect that violation will bring punishment. So anyone who has the fruit of the Spirit does not have any law against them and therefore no evil will befall them. Jesus was such a man when the walked the earth, he declared that Satan has nothing against him.

Genesis 2:9 (King James Version)

9And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Yet again, we see that God created the tree of life and also the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. So if God said that when you eat the tree of knowledge you will know good and evil, then evil has to exist else God will be a liar. Therefore, is there anymore proof that needs to be given that Yes, God created evil? I think not; unless all this theologians still want to insist that a good God do not create evil because of their definition that good means no evil. However, this kind of thinking is flawed. We can not escape the fact that God made it very clear that he created evil. Evil is the punishment which God has created against men who sin. Evil is the justice accorded to people who sin, and to those who do not sin, evil is good since it punishes those who sin. But sadly, all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God so evil did punish us all, and only the atonement of Jesus Christ saved us from eternal damnation.

Similarly, when a father disciplines and punishes his son for being a rascal, is this act of chastisement good or evil? It’s good for the father since he disciplines his son, but it is evil to the son who receives the lashes since it pains him. So where is evil not a good thing, evil is good from a different perspective. Therefore, to God evil is good and it’s his tool to punish and chastise everyone who violates the word of God.

When God created the world in 6 days and rested on the seventh, he did say it was good. What is good for God may not be necessarily good for us. Did God created hell? Yes, we all know he did, if so is that good for us. No, it’s good if you are saved by believing in Jesus, certainly not good if you are not a believer. But to God he says it is good. Good for whom, good for God. So are we being the pot trying now very hard to tell the potter what are you doing? Can we question God what is it he is doing? Can we then say as well that evil is not good?

Evil is good for God because it punishes the sinner who violates the word of God. Evil can not punish anyone who does not sin. Evil is a servant of God, many will not agree to this statement because they think that evil can do anything it wants without the approval of God, then they should read the book of Job. Evil is subjugated to God because evil was created by God. If God did not create evil then it means that evil created itself out of no other creator God but itself. Then we may not know who will win the final war when evil fights against God and Jesus, because we do not know how strong evil is since we have not seen this war yet. But of course we know God wins in the end, the bible says so.

28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Here again, all things which means invisible and visible things work for the good of those who love him and not good for those who **** him. All things mean all things and we can not change this statement again. Evil is good in the sight of God since it punishes those who sin against God. God is a god of justice and he is also a god of decent order. And so he has to provide justice for those who can not defend themselves from aggressors. When I made this discovery that evil was created by God, I finally began to see and understand all the proper connections in the bible stories and know what God is all about. For those who insists that evil is not created by God will have a long time of trouble to understand the nature of God and his purpose, if they persist in this error they may forever be unable to understand who God is truly.

Can God lie, since many believe lying is evil or wrong?

God can not lie, yet God works with a lying spirit to lie to the king whom he decreed disaster. So is this lying spirit good or bad or did it serve a function for God. God used a lying spirit to lie to a king and to send him into a battlefield to be killed. Is this good or evil? But this king in the sight of God is evil indeed. Read the book of second Chronicles.

2 Chronicles 18:20-23 (New International Version)

20 Finally, a spirit came forward, stood before the LORD and said, ‘I will entice him.’

” ‘By what means?’ the LORD asked.

21 ” ‘I will go and be a lying spirit in the mouths of all his prophets,’ he said.

” ‘You will succeed in enticing him,’ said the LORD. ‘Go and do it.’

22 “So now the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouths of these prophets of yours. The LORD has decreed disaster for you.”

So in this case, would you say the Lord permitted or approved of this act? What’s the difference between permit and approved, permit means not agreeing strongly but allowed it, while approve means allowing something with strong conviction. The Lord says let your Yes be Yes and your No be No, so how can God permit and yet not allowed or even approved. This is utter nonsense, approved, allowed and permit they are all the same, God said Yes do it.

Christians tried very hard using strange words to explain away that God is not fatalistic in nature and is always kind and gentle, no God is not so, he is a just God and will not hesitate to exercise judgment on anything or anyone. God is a decisive God who does not waver between two decisions, God is able to make hard decision unlike man. I tell you this because I have received his chastisement and it was not kind or gentle; it was deep pain. Yet, God was just in his dealings with me. This is not theology, it’s an encounter with the real God who disciplines those he calls son. The chastisement to me was not good, in fact I call that evil but I know I deserved that, since it was a prophecy I should not have given but I did out of my own presumption and not considering the consequences of the statement made, and God had to punish me for that.

Unless you come to that place and get to know God, you will never walk in intimacy with him because all your knowledge of him is but theology, doctrine, concept, imaginary hypothesis, philosophy and man-made traditions which are not worth a dime compared to the real knowledge of him. Creation is one topic that has been well studied for many centuries. Not just one viewpoint on creation has been devised but so many that it would take pages to outline their individual approaches. Looking back into history in the times where gods were formed in the stars, to present day theories of god creating life through spiritual ideology and also to extend to a more physical approach of life being created materially through an evolutionary approach, from cells to formation of all life on earth from one core form. Each theory has its own viewpoint and approach that looks at life to suit its own goals and objectives.

When we look at creation there is one thing that is undeniable and that is that we really do not have it wrapped up around our little finger, on how to pinpoint an exact time and place when creation was formed. We follow belief structures with full understanding that we are but the creation and not the all knowing of why it exists.

Each theory has its own logical approach, looking at creation from its own creative and subjective methodology, with the essence of each theory focusing on the human body and how the earth is formed. Some theories also extend to the mind and seek truth in romantic and poetic stories that relate to love, light and just generally being happy and content with the overall position that we are all placed within. Except for a lot of scientific approaches each organized creation theory stems mostly from a story form approach, each showing a line of creation that is formed by an ideal of the human mind.

I suppose the real question to ask when viewing all the individual approaches of creation: what was the original intention of this viewpoint? Whether that be to acknowledge that there is an omnipresent being that created us from a place far more divine than anything that we could even comprehend, or that we are merely formed but of matter that changes as the years go by. Each method of viewing creation definitely has its own beauty and individual creative approach, none without a fault in trying to find the reason for existence.

All theories stand on their own podium of strong opinion and purpose, not one with limit to reach a desire to understand and justify its approach. The only downfall that could be noted is when each theory comes into contact with one another. It is then that the podiums start to crumble. Instead of finding undeniable links between each approach, we choose to debate each limited ideal until the end of time, even after we find that such passion can lead to fighting and viewing creation from the opposite viewpoint to which we seek. How can such things be overcome? Will we ever find an agreeable approach that does not have to hinge on an individuals creative potential.

One thing that is seen when viewing many of the approaches of finding reason in creation is that our focus is as time goes by limiting itself to ideals of human social acceptance. Many things are forced to the wayside if they do not fit into a group acceptance instead of being seen subjectively and in its own beauty and form. Rules and guidelines are setup so stringent that the makers also feel themselves forced into a cage of redemption, leading to their own individual undoing. They wish to hold to their beliefs so strong without questioning their original purpose, but only to enforce without first contemplation and solution. Their ideal becomes then their purpose and when they are under attack they seize up and protect themselves with shields of rigid viewpoint to push away new concepts and approaches.

Sometimes also these new concepts and approaches have also their own basis of crumbling podiums. They too are looking for ways to build themselves up to achieve understanding, and a strong undeniable truth, that they hope will be still standing at the end of the day after all the work that has have done to try and convince others of their purpose.

What if creation itself was not in the individuals desire to create purpose for themselves? We all seek answers that we hope is the only truth standing from viewing each individual standpoint. The only other thing that we can really know to be truth is also that we will inevitably die one day out of the body to which we are formed. These two truths are all that we have to hold us up. They are our right and left foot, the only thing that we can be certain of. We all seek answers at some point in our life, but what are we really asking for?

One thing is for sure, individually we are not really seeking an answer for why creation is formed, but really an answer to what is our purpose as humans. We want to know what we are to be doing and what we are to be achieving. Every person has the desire within them to want to know why they should even exist in the first place, but not to only acknowledge the beauty of the creation itself but to know why we endure all that we experience. What if creation had no real foundational purpose, would we then want to know the truth?

The foundational elements of creation really would not in all essence have the same goals as the creation itself. These elements have a place outside the human physical world. They are not the creation but the creator. When people base ideas on creation they know that the foundation elements are this ‘creator’ and draw in on human ideals in order to form their formational model. It makes perfect sense to see creation this way. Seeing as we as humans only know so far the basis of this world alone and what we see with our eyes around us. The only thing that could be seen as lacking is that we cannot see beyond such limited concepts. We base all on our own self focus and think that we are but the center of all, but is this so?

If we were to draw on all creation theory and look at creation for its foundation rather than its purpose how would it then be viewed? It would for sure have a basis far outside this singular limited world that we now know and isolate ourselves within. Would creation not be far reaching beyond even human reasoning and incorporate all possibility?

One thing is for sure, the elements that created us, are not us, but the foundational embodiments to which we are made from. It would be very logical to see creation in such a way. Such a viewpoint would never change in its approach, because the ‘created’ is always a product from the ‘creator’. This would have to be a simple foundation fact. If this were to be so then how would we ascertain what this creator is and how creation is formed?

If we take a known example from our world of an event that takes place, we know for sure with our logical minds that the effect follows after a causal event. When certain things happen within our world we understand then that it makes a change in the environment around us. It is thus then from the effect that the cause can be understood. Would we not then know the creator from understanding the components of the created? If we can ascertain what takes place then it is only logic to see that we can ascertain also why it takes place. There is always a reason, if there is an event taking place. This is another undeniable fact and one that will never change.

That would then reason that creation can be known, we are the effect from a cause, and we can learn why it all happened, whether or not it makes reason to why we exist. It is all just in understanding the practical nature of creation, to seeing that it is far more than just a story being told. It is even far more than a rule that makes us conform within society. It is far more than even popularity. There is a core truth, that when it is found, it will hold tall and be understood by all in its core essence no matter how it is creatively relayed to others. In the core essence all belief has a foundation. When this core essence is known then nothing is right or wrong and all belief can be utilized to its full creative potential.

A blog on evolution called Le blog des bactéries et de l’évolution carried two reports on 8 and 9 February, 2007. These referred to the Atlas of Creation as “this great warship using wide extracts from the verses of the Qur’an.” 15. In its 5 March, 2007, edition Le Soir, one of Belgium’s main dailies, carried a report about the global impact of Harun Yahya’s Atlas of Creation. The report, titled “A red book rejects Darwin’s thesis,” described Harun Yahya’s work as “an intervention of genius.” 16. Prof. Bernard Rentier of Liege University made this comment on his personal page: “The content is surprising, but effective. One does not dare to think of the impact that will arise following the distribution of the Atlas across the world…” 17. The Polish pro-creation organization Polskie Towarzystwo Kreacjonistyczne stated that “in some countries the author’s books are more esteemed than school textbooks…” 18. On 23 March the Polish internet magazine Interia.pl carried a report concerning Harun Yahya’s Atlas of Creation headed “An anti-Darwinist textbook has shocked the authorities. 19. The news portal Glos Nauczycielski described the terror a book has instilled in the Belgian Ministry of Education under the caption “Anti-Darwinist book strikes Belgian schools.” 20. The news portal Dziennik Online discussed the Belgian reaction to the idea of creation, and referred to the Belgian authorities as “saying the book needs to be rounded up as a matter of urgency.” 21. A report carried in the 2 May, 2007, edition of Le Matin, one of Switzerland’s main dailies bore the caption, “Propaganda firmly installed in Europe: an extraordinary Atlas has invaded all Switzerland!” 22. The Liège University monthly journal carried a report titled “A surprising example of Creationism: a Turkish work leads to evolution debate!” in it 15 May, 2007, edition. 23. In its 20 June, 2007, edition Die Welt, one of Germany’s largest dailies, carried a long report titled “Struggling with the Qur’an against evolution.” The report referred to “the Paris Ministry of Education panicking and calling for the book not to be taught in the class.” 24. On 20 February, 2007, the German news portal hpd-online.de carried a report concerning the Atlas of Creation. This referred to the panic that the distribution of the book had caused in France and Benelux. 25. The major American news portal www.newsmax.com carried a report titled “Turks: Atheism Is the ‘Root of Terrorism’” on 22 November, 2006. The report stated, “This … has an influence U.S. creationists could only dream of.” 26. The 23 March, 2007, edition of La Libre Belgique, published in Belgium, referred to “an author enjoying increasing success in his rejection of the theory of evolution…” 27. Kevin Myers made this reference to the Atlas of Creation in the Irish Independent on 9 March, 2007: “… Harun Yahya’s Atlas of Creation from Global Publishing, is quite the most spectacular so far this year.” 28. A report by Carl-Johan Bilkenroth in the 4 March, 2007, issue of Svenska Dagbladet, published in Sweden, referred to the Atlas as “a glorious work that challenges Darwin.” 29. A report concerning the Atlas of Creation in the 4 June, 2007, edition of Corriere della Sera, Italy’s largest daily, contained the following statements: “At the same time, a competition has arisen between creationists of Christian origin centered in the United States and those of Islamic origin who have preoccupied us with the Atlas of Creation. We cannot know which of these will prevail, we do know for certain that we will be the losers…” 30. The news agency Armenews carried a report on 18 April, 2007, which contained the words, “The struggle against evolution being waged in Turkey seems to have ended in almost total victory.” 31. One pro-evolution web site published in Italian, Dragor, carried an analysis headed “Darwin, Farewell?” The analysis compared the impact of the Atlas of Creation in France and Italy and emphasized that it was next to impossible to stand in the way of the Islamic creationism led by Harun Yahya. “How much longer will France be able to stand out?” it asked. 32. The 24 June, 2007, edition of The Washington Times carried a report about the Fact of Creation, which is growing increasingly powerful in European countries. The report quoted Hervé Le Guyader, a biologist from Paris University, who called the challenge from Islamic thinkers “much more dangerous than the previous creationist initiatives, which were often of Anglo-Saxon origin.” 33. A report in the 29 March, 2007, edition of Stern, one of Germany’s most important magazines, said “A book like a clap of thunder. … It is obvious from the outset: This book is totally different!” 34. The French daily Lyon Capitale referred to Harun Yahya as “the most active Islamic Creationist today,” on 13 February, 2007. 35. If you are going to create a PDF ebook, you are going to need a software program to help you do this.  This article does two things.  First, the article helps the beginner understand the Adobe software package and how it relates to ebooks.  Second, it provides a free alternative for creating your own PDFs.  Since this was my first attempt at creating a PDF, this article was written for a beginner, by a beginner.

This is my general understanding of Adobe and how this company relates to PDF ebooks.

Adobe Systems created the portable document format (PDF) in 1993.

Adobe Acrobat is a family of computer programs created by Adobe Systems.  According to Wikipedia, they were “designed to view, create, manipulate and manage files in Adobe’s portable document format (PDF)”.

Adobe Reader is one of the programs within the Adobe Acrobat family.  You can download Adobe Reader for free.  This software is used to view and print PDF ebooks.

Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard is the software package needed to create PDF files.  At the time of this writing this package cost $299.00.  (You can also use Pro $449.00 or Pro Extended $699.00).

In summary, if you would like to read PDF ebooks you can download for free, Adobe Reader.  If you would like to create PDF ebooks as well, then you  need to purchase one of Adobes software packages, such as Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard.

Since I know that I would like to create PDF files, I have decided that I will need a software package to do this.  I do not however, want to spend $299.00 to create my first PDF ebook.  Adobe looks like a great product and a package that I may buy in the future, but for my first project, I would like to do this as simply and as cheaply as possible.

OpenOffice

I recently found out about a product called OpenOffice, similar to Microsoft Office.  This is free software which can be downloaded at www.openoffice.org.  I found this product via a “You Tube” video.  After watching the video, I visited the website at instantebookpublishing.com.  The website provides information about ebooks and includes a copy of the video mentioned above.  It’s a great nine minute video that walks you through creating your first PDF with OpenOffice.

I have recently put this product to the test.  I downloaded the software from OpenOffice and used it to create my first PDF ebook.  Creating the ebook took less than an hour following the simple instructions from the video.  Again, this was my first PDF and it took less than an hour.

The PDF included internal links and one external link.  The internal links allowed me to jump from a table of contents directly to the chapter I wanted to read.  The external link was simply a link to my website.  Creating these links were very easy and the video shows you how.

So, I was able to create a PDF ebook at no cost by using the following:

1)  Open Office                 - the word processor allows me to create PDF files.

2)  instantebookpublishing.com  -  nine minute video showing how to use OpenOffice to create a PDF.

3)  Adobe Reader                -  allows me to read the ebook (even though not created with Adobe).

From start to finish, it took less than two hours.

At this point, my PDF ebook is very basic, but since it took me only a couple of hours and I learned a great deal, I am very happy with my results.  I hope you  have the same success.

Certainly it appears the global economy has moved on in the last two months and we appear to be seeing some early signs of improvements signalling that the recession is starting to ease. The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has suggested that there are “tentative signs of, at least, a pause in the economic slowdown” in some countries - namely the UK, France, Italy, and China. Jean-Claude Trichet, the president of the European Central Bank, said recently that there has been a “slowing down in the decrease in GDP” and went on to note that certain countries were already reporting a pick-up.

There are also signs that housing market activity in the UK is picking up slightly, with mortgage approvals up slightly and surveyors reporting increased interest in house purchases. World stock markets too have recovered significantly from their low points in March.

All of this is good news, but our view remains largely unchanged as regards the overall state of the world economy and also the property market in Mallorca. That is, that there is indeed a slowdown in the rate of fall of the key economic indicators in some countries. And this could be a sign that the recession is gradually finding a its lowest point. We do not feel however that there will be a quick or significant rebound except for perhaps in the stock markets driven by traders who appear in the main to be flying in the face of what continues to be pretty dire economic and company performance data.

Furthermore some of the key actual economic indicators, and things the UK and other counties still have to contend with, look far from cheery. Unemployment could reach 9% in the UK, 10% in the US and 20% in Spain by the end of the year. This will undoubtedly have a negative effect on consumption and the housing market in these countries.

Added to this, these signals of recovery are not yet apparent in a small number of the biggest economies in the world such as the US, Germany and Japan. In many developing countries too conditions are still getting worse.

With all this in mind, we think it far too early to be heralding the end of the recession, or even that it has reached its ultimate low. It may be that we will see a modest return to growth in some countries in 2010, but it will take longer, possibly much longer, to return to the levels of activity seen prior to 2007.

On top of this there are still great concerns over the financial health of some of the worlds biggest economies. And the overall effects of the massive amounts of money pumped in to stimulate these economies is not yet clear. The IMF has warned that there could still be another $3 trillion in losses for the financial sector as a whole before the crisis is over.

Our prognosis for the Mallorca property market

As above, there are plenty of solid reasons to believe there will be no significant uplift in property markets in any country, even the strongest such as mallorca, during the course of this year and most likely the first half of 2010 too.

On top of the global macro economic considerations there are factors specific to the Spanish property market that also put pressure on prices across the region. These are highlighted in the article mentioned above.

However, it is also very clear that activity has picked up for and that sales are being made, albeit at a relatively low level. There are a number of more positive factors that are contributing to this.

Euro interest rates are lower now than they have even been

The latest European Central Bank’s interest rate cut to 1.00% is the lowest level since the single currency’s creation. It is possible that the rate will be cut still further later in the year. Whilst it is likely that not all of this will be passed on to lenders, any lowering of consumer rates is positive and will help stimulate the markets to some extent.

In Mallorca we are seeing buyers are taking 50% loans so they have a hedge against any further significant currency fluctuations. Braver investors are seeking higher percentage Euro loans on the basis that Sterling will improve against the Euro and therefore, paying off the loan and converting the bulk of their Sterling at a later date will be to their advantage.

Reflecting this there was a small increase in the number of new mortgages granted in March although the number is still significantly down on last year.

Continue opportunities for property purchases at very low asking prices for Mallorca

This is the most important factor. Buyers in the Mallorca property market at present tend to be either professional investors, or private individuals who realise a) that there are some very good deals to be had in the current market and, b) that to delay looking for a property in the hope that conditions will move even more in their favour might mean missing out on a great opportunity that is available in the market right now.

We have written several times on this subject and you can read previous articles ono the subject via the links listed on this page of the Mallorca Property Partners website.

Overall our prediction remains that average property prices in Mallorca will drop further through to the end of this year, possibly continuing into the first half of 2010. We do not however think this drop will be as high as in other parts of Spain (predicted to be 10% overall this year and 12% next year by analysts at BBVA - one of Spain’s leading banks). The fact that there are active buyers in the market in Mallorca sets the region apart from most. And there are plenty of other solid reasons to set Mallorca apart from other parts of mainland Spain, the other Spanish islands, and most other international property markets too (see the “Green shoots” article referenced above).

But once again the over-riding observation is to not rely too much on market data and statistical analyses. This is because of the considerable variance in actual selling prices above and below the average prices in this unusual market environment. The reason for this is that the seller’s circumstance is a more powerful factor than in a “normal” market environment and this is not directly related to the usual determinants of the value of a property.

There are, therefore, some exceptional deals being done at price levels that are unlikely to be improved upon regardless of where average prices go to. To illustrate, see this selection of properties in Mallorca that have  either been reduced in price or listed at very low asking prices.

What’s in it for Me?

Many vendors now throw together a few deliverables that are cheap and easy to deliver and dress them with a logo and a brand name. This was fine in the days when the market was less crowded, less competitive and when vendors could differentiate themselves through their unique technology. But in the age of technology commoditization and convergence, most lack the means to compel their channel partners to work with them simply because their product was the best or the only available.

Today, partner programs themselves have to be the differentiators and through them, a vendor needs to convey actions as well as words that motivate channel partners to work with them rather than their competitors. But what do channel partners want to hear? In essence:

You will develop technology that is superior to your competitors You will create a desire within your mutual customers to buy new technology or upgrade from existing technologies You will invest in demand generation You will make customers receptive to buying your products and your brand You will direct customers to your channel partners You will direct your channel partners to potential customers You will minimize channel conflict You will provide the necessary information, education, tools and resources to assist your channel partners in marketing, selling and if necessary supporting your products You will ensure that the sale of your products will prove to a be a profitable enterprise You will make it easy for channel partners to augment your product offering with complementary products and value added services Your will ensure that your products deliver on their promise, that they are reliable and encourage repeat purchases You will, throughout be easy to do business with and treat your channel partners with integrity and respect

Many of these expectations depend on having great products but if you get the other elements right and implement them better than your competitors, it is entirely possible to have inferior products but a far more dedicated and motivated channel than they do.

We will discuss best practice in partner program deliverables later in the series but at this point, there are two important principles to remember:

1. The best recruitment campaign in the world will fail if your partner program is not compelling

2. The notion of ‘build it and they will come’ - having the best program but failing to market it and proactively and systematically drive recruitment will also fail

The Recruitment Campaign

You would not set out to recruit a sales person or marketer without first documenting the following:

For what purpose is the role being created? What is the context for the appointment? What are the goals, fiscal or otherwise of the individual to be hired? What resources will be made available to the individual to assist them in achieving their goals? Which markets or customer segments should they be targeted upon? To whom do they report? How will their performance be monitored and reviewed? How will good performance be rewarded and poor performance be punished? What compensation and benefits will be given? By what contractual obligations will employer and employee be bound? Why should the candidate join you instead of another company?

You would also establish a candidate profile and a brief to the recruiter.

Similarly, you should not embark on a partner recruitment campaign without ensuring that you are crystal clear on all of these points:

Why are you looking to recruit new partners? What does it mean for the partners you already have? What is the context for the campaign? What do you want your new partners to do for you? What targets will be set, if any? How will you establish joint business plans and ensure they are implemented? What resources will be made available to new partners to assist them in achieving your shared goals? Which markets or customer segments should they be targeted upon? How will the partner make profit from the relationship and how much? What other benefits are on offer? Who will be responsible for managing the relationship? Who or what will be their point of contact? How will their performance be monitored and reviewed? How will good performance be rewarded and poor performance be punished? By what contractual obligations will vendor and partner be bound? What makes your package of offerings better than any other vendor with whom you are competing for the partner’s attention?

Ultimately, your aim is the same - to recruit the best channel partner organizations, sales people and marketers to work, albeit indirectly for you to help you to take your products to market at the expense and exclusion of your competition. If you think of it this way, your recruitment campaign will proceed with greater vigor and purpose and both you and your potential ‘candidates’ will have a much clearer understanding of your objectives.

Recruitment Process

Whether you adopt the ‘big bang’ approach of launching a new partner program with accompanying PR campaign or the more low-key approach of augmenting your existing partner-base as part of your existing program, it is important to preface any communications with messages reinforcing the points above. You must set the context of the recruitment, why you are doing it, what it will mean for you, what it will mean for existing partners and most importantly what it will mean for and how it will benefit your target partners.

Putting the actual marketing communications activities to one side; we will deal with them in later section, let’s turn our attention to creating a low cost and efficient means of inviting partners to join you and processing their applications.

Email is now the de-facto standard communication medium but it is also statistically weak in generating responses. Spam filters and security software have exacerbated the problem. You must also remember that in order to have whole companies to partner with you, you must start by recruiting individuals - company’s don’t form relationships with other companies - people do that!

It is essential therefore that you gather accurate contact information; names, job roles email etc of you are to target the right people with the right message. We discussed this in earlier sections of this document but here it is critical. Sales people will have different motivations to join your program to those of a marketer or support person. You must play to these motivations effectively in your communications if you are to succeed in making your campaign above average in terms of response. This means that you will need to engage in targeted and personalized campaigns segmented by organization type, market focus type, job role type and so on - communicating multiple value propositions to each. This takes time and effort but the results will be worthwhile.

The email or other contact should direct the individual ideally to an online registration point within which you can gather more information about them and populate and enrich your database whilst ascertaining if your judgment in inviting them to join you was correct. The same registration point must be available via your corporate website to catch stray applicants that you may not have invited or who missed your recruitment campaign first time around.

Since by now you will have devised your partner selection and segmentation criteria, you may now begin the process of mapping applicants against them and either approving or rejecting their application. This can be an arduous and time consuming task best automated especially if your campaign has been broad. Needless to say, ensure you have the necessary systems and/or business processes in place before you begin.

Finally, make sure that your response to applicants is immediate or at the very least prompt, that they are enrolled as soon as possible and that you begin to communicate with them straight away reinforcing the program value propositions and backing them up with a ‘quick-start plan’ to move your new partners on to the next stage…
